As far as fairy tale weddings in a castle go this was definitely up there with them!
Unfortunately the weather on the day wasn’t great, the bride and groom wanted an outside wedding on the ‘ha-ha’, a lawned area overlooking the castle.
We planned to erect a floral arch for the couple to stand in front for the blessing but the call was made to switch the ceremony to the chapel in the grounds which was not a bad thing as it’s beautiful.
I presented the bride with the bridal and bridesmaid bouquets at the gate house as soon as we arrived. Manpreet chose Blushes, Ivories and greens for her flowers so I advised her on, in my opinion, the most beautiful scented Rose The Garden O’hara Rose, along with Ivory Avalanche Roses, Bombastic Spray Roses, Wax flower, Lisianthus with Ruscus, Eucalyptus and Elephants Ears foliage.
We started with the entrance to the chapel and created two floral pillars either side of the doors, with Sally and Beth on hand and a soggy hour later, the church was ready to receive the wedding party. We hung glass jars of flowers to complement the bridal party from pew ends (which were later moved around the venue).
The couple had their official ceremony in the morning in the castle, with an intimate party of friends and family. They then had a blessing in the chapel in the afternoon.
The wedding breakfast and reception was held in the banqueting hall and Pavilion. For the round tables Manpreet and Marco wanted something elegant in the way of floral arrangement’s so they chose silver footed vases with flowers to complement the bridal party for their centre pieces with mercury ribbed t-lights.
The doorway to the castle was adorned with two huge pedestals either side, adding in metre long Delphiniums for height.
I always advise my couples to utilise their flowers, so the long and low arrangement from the ceremony table was moved to the top table. The two floral pillars from outside the chapel made their way to the pavilion!
The cake was stunning, Pia and her team from Vanilla Pod Bakery decorated it with the Avalanche and Bombastic Roses we used in the bridal party.
I just love this amazing image of Manpreet and Marco, it just sums up getting married in an historic romantic castle.
