Well it’s only taken me a year to write my first Blog since my website was updated! 2017 was a busy year for us along with trying to juggle children and renovating a house! My aim for this year’s wedding season is to keep my blog updated!

I’ll start the season with our first spring wedding last Friday (2nd March). At the beginning of the week we had seen the weather report and that’s when I started to get very nervous! Our workshop is on a private farm with a very long steep driveway that is not cleared of snow or gritted as you can see from the pic below!

With this in mind and the worry of not been able to get out of the farm we decamped to my home to our conservatory which the children use as their playroom, we cleared their toys (a job I’ve been meaning to do for months anyway) and turned the heating off so the flowers wouldn’t wilt and used as a makeshift workshop.

On the morning of the wedding we woke up to find that yes it had snowed but not as much as we thought so were pretty relieved until we were on our way to the venue and realised that is was the snowdrifts that were the problem. The wedding venue was Cripps Barn just outside Bibury in the beautiful Cotswolds, on turning into the country lane that Cripps Barn is situated down we came across a wall of snow, that had drifted from the fields, even though we were in a 4x4 we had a treacherous last part of the journey through more country lanes. We finally made it, a 15 minute journey taking an hour and a half.

The chef at Cripps Barn had walked through fields to get in and the staff were being ferried in by 4x4’s so the situation was all under control.

The theme for the wedding was lush green foliage and white seasonal flowers with a hint of blue from Thistles. The bride wanted a natural unformal bouquet slightly trailing. We used Lisianthus, white stocks, wax flower, Astrantia, Veronica with Euculpytus and Populus foiliage and used Asparagus Ferns to give that lovely floaty look.
